Gazelle is the top brand in Holland for a reason - the Dutch know how to outfit a bike as daily transportation, in any weather, and tough enough for city streets. The Arroyo epitomizes the Dutch bike philosophy - an upright, comfortable riding bike, full featured with fenders, lights, rack, bell, integrated frame lock, a enclosed chain guard, along with a signature shield so you can wear a long (rain) coat or skirt if you want. Due to the low placement of the mid-motor, the Arroyo feels like a regular bike with excellent maneuverability and handling. The very low step frame makes for easy entry for people of any size or physical capabilities.
You will see hydraulic rim brakes on lots of Euro eBIkes because they are the lowest maintenance (long service interval) while still giving great stopping power, albeit less than discs. Hydraulic brakes (for both disc and rim) not only greatly increase the brakes squeezing power - they also require less frequent adjustments because the lever doesn't need to be pressed as far to close hydraulic brakes.
The Performance line is Bosch's most powerful street motor is tuned for a dynamic sportier ride, vs the active line's daily rider & leisure emphasis, and is the motor system to have on a premium sporty eBike. Pushing 63 Nm and available in a 20mph and 28mph versions. We just don't see any problems with the Bosch setups, so peace of mind is included.
Internally geared hubs are standard on Euro commuters - they are popular with less experienced cyclists because internal gears can shift over the entire range at rest (useful if you forget to downshift after coming to a stop) without causing problems, they tend to be quieter, cleaner and less maintenance than derailleur gears. Flat changes are more complicated, but overall maintenance is needed less frequently, and if used with a chain guard can keep your trousers from getting greasy.
Daily commuting on an eBike will put you ahead of the pack every time, but it pays to be prepared. Fenders keep the spray off your face, back and feet. A rear carrier allows you to use bags. Lights that are integrated with your eBikes battery. A chainguard keeps your chain & trousers clean. Integrated frame locks for quickie stops. And a nice bell to politely tell people to get out of your way!
