Gazelle Cityzen C8
Gazelle Cityzen C8
The Cityzen is our most popular model for active cyclists - it is designed to have a fast and responsive ride - with precise handling sporty geometry, while still providing plenty of power for hills.
Solid Braking - Shimano hydraulic disc with 160 mm rotors
Available sizes 46cm, 49cm, 53cm mid step frames.
The Cityzen is a popular choice for active cyclists because it emphasizes the efficient performance of a regular bike - due to the narrower tires, a rigid fork and light, stiff wheels - and a design that is clean and "Zen". The classic Dutch bike is very upright which makes them outstanding for comfort, but that can be a slog at speed and on longer rides. Narrower tires roll considerably faster than comfort/cruiser style fat tires. If you are looking for more of an exercise experience while still enjoying the benefits of eBikes - like help on the hills or for endurance on a long ride - the Cityzen is a solid choice.
Since cycling in Holland is like car driving in the US, the Dutch really know what it takes to have an excellent cycling experience. Gazelle is renowned for outstanding reliability and lots of touches and extras that are not immediately obvious, but you will appreciate for years to come.
The Performance line is Bosch's most powerful street motor is tuned for a dynamic sportier ride, vs the active line's daily rider & leisure emphasis, and is the motor system to have on a premium sporty eBike. Pushing 63 Nm and available in a 20mph and 28mph versions. We just don't see any problems with the Bosch setups, so peace of mind is included.
Daily commuting on an eBike will put you ahead of the pack every time, but it pays to be prepared. Fenders keep the spray off your face, back and feet. A rear carrier allows you to use bags. Lights that are integrated with your eBikes battery. A chainguard keeps your chain & trousers clean. Integrated frame locks for quickie stops. And a nice bell to politely tell people to get out of your way!
Internally geared hubs are standard on Euro commuters - they are popular with less experienced cyclists because internal gears can shift over the entire range at rest (useful if you forget to downshift after coming to a stop) without causing problems, they tend to be quieter, cleaner and less maintenance than derailleur gears. Flat changes are more complicated, but overall maintenance is needed less frequently, and if used with a chain guard can keep your trousers from getting greasy.
