The Redux iE is one of the most affordable 28mph mid drive speed bikes available - its aggressive urban geometry and wider street tires help tackle rough roads on your morning commute. The frame integrated, German-built, Brose T drive system, bright and easy to read display, and integrated downtube battery make for a clean, minimalist look. The chain keeper on the 1x10 drive train also functions like a chain guard to keep your trousers clean.
Lights, fenders and a rear rack can easily be added to weatherize your commute. Schwalbe Big Ben 2 inch wide, fast rolling tires help speed things along for city streets or further afield.
The Brose T motor is focused on a "natural" feeling power delivery and hitting the perfect balance between power and efficiency to ensure maximum range. Torque peaks at 90 nm, but in order to get the most from the T motor, your pedaling cadence needs to be over 70 rotations per minute. Specialized uses the T motor, but calls it "Turbo 1.2" and it is bluetooth capable.
Batteries that are integrated into the downtube are increasingly being used to keep an eBike looking stealthy so they blend in better. Like downtube batteries, this battery's location advantages include better handing because the bike will handle most naturally the closer the battery is to the cranks where the pedals are. This location can also be used on step through designs - allowing easier entry at the same time having ideal weight distribution.
The norm for most bikes, with great ratio range, lots of low speed torque as well as top end gears for high speeds, and easy access to service and change flats. A more dynamic, snappier shifting performance. For eBikes shifting over the entire range when the bike is at rest can be a problem, a challenge less active cyclists face at first. They can get your trousers dirty if you aren't careful. Good quality gears can last with frequent maintenance, but will wear out faster than internal gears and belt drives.
Hydraulic disc brakes will have the most stopping power in any weather conditions, and are standard equipment on most eBIkes because of the added weight and speed on an electric bike. Not all disc brakes are created equally - the size and quality of the disc (or rotor), as well as the quality of the pad material can have a significant impact on braking performance.
